You are welcome to join the North Carolina Fire and Rescue Administrative Professionals!
The focus is on making connections with each other so that we may grow both professionally and personally. We recognize how critical our performance is to the fire rescue mission and are driven to discover ways we can assist and improve our staff support roles.
Each meeting is hosted by a different department giving that department the opportunity to showcase its uniqueness and lessons learned. We are very proud of our accomplishments and the support we receive from our Chiefs.
“Organizations like this are a direct benefit to our fire departments. I would recommend that all fire chiefs allow their staff to take advantage of these opportunities.” Gary Corbet, Fire Chief, Roanoke Rapids FD

What are the different levels of membership?
Yes, there are two levels of membership: Active and Honorary.
An Active Member is defined as NC Fire and Rescue Support Staff and related positions of regularly organized public, governmental and private industrial fire departments.
Honorary Membership status is automatically attained by any person who has retired and remained an active member in good standing in this Association for 5 years upon retirement and payment of prescribed dues. Honorary members will act as an advisory role in the association and be allowed to attend all meetings and participate in trainings.
Are you required to pay dues?
Yes. Active Member dues are $75/year. Dues are billed on July 1st of each year. Those who join mid-year will have their dues prorated. Honorary Members will not be required to pay dues.
What is the typical agenda/schedule for the quarterly meetings?
Each quarterly meeting consists of one or more guest speakers that bring valuable information on fire department business, services, or resources to better assist us…such as pension plans, report deadline dates, upcoming events for chief officers.
For example at a previous meeting, representatives from FLSE and NCSFA came and discussed some of their programs, how they can be of assistance to us, and our individual departments. There can be a continuing education portion as well, either hands-on and/or instructional. Depending on what is taught and by whom, it may be possible to earn certificates of completion. Meetings also include an organization business meeting component as well.
The board is very transparent, with full disclosure of our finances, and organization business. We strongly encourage members to get involved, provide feedback, take the lead on organized activities, reaching out to other departments, or share of their expertise.
